Cheers! Today marks two week into my Whole30. Yes, I am still rocking and rolling along. I stopped the everyday updates. The days started running together and there wasn’t much to update daily. So here I am. I do have a few tips and tricks I have learned along the way to make things go a bit more smooth during this journey. Continue reading

everything-but-the-bagel avo toast
Need a quick, easy and healthy breakfast or snack idea?
Jump on the avocado toast train.
I just toasted two pieces of my favorite gluten-free bread, mashed half an avocado and spread it on the toast, and finished it all off with some red pepper flakes and Trader Joe’s Everything-but-the-Bagel Sesame seasoning.
day four | food & clarity
Today, I am thankful for NOT having a headache, bloating, or stomach troubles! Day four had definitely been the easiest yet! I think I am getting use to my mornings without coffee and I am not craving sugar and cereals like the previous days. I have to say, I think it helped quite a bit that I stayed busy and active all day. Continue reading
don’t buy your tomato sauce
Don’t buy your tomato sauce. Just don’t. Not convinced? How about next time you go to the grocery store you check to see the added sugar, salt and preservatives listed on the ingredients list? If you are shocked by what your eyes read, don’t worry. It is so simple to make your own tomato sauce. Just keep on reading! If you aren’t shocked, nor care, continue on your westernized-grocery store shopping spree and skip this post. Continue reading
austin adventures
This weekend, my sister and I headed up to Austin to celebrate my future sister-in-law’s bachelorette party and festivities. It was so much fun and we were lucky to have nice weather. If you have not heard, Houston has been flooding pretty badly and pretty much all of Texas has been hit with some serious storms. Pretty much everything we did centered around the outdoors like grilling and playing games on the patio, going to various wineries and BBQ for lunch, to walking around 6th Street bar hopping the night away. It was great meeting all of the friends and family that I get to see again come July for the wedding–I can’t wait! Continue reading
trader joe’s in foco
It was a pretty exciting day yesterday. I have a thing with grocery stores. I absolutely love them. Grocery shopping is one of my favorite stress relievers. Call me weird–I already know. So this weekend, my town opened up their first Trader Joe’s! It is the equivalent of Disneyland opening to me. Of course, I had to visit opening weekend!
ski break
Last weekend was a blast! I went down to Winter Park for the weekend to go skiing–a typical pass time for the Colorado student I have discovered. It was a nice break to exert some energy on the snowy mountains and be at one with nature and away from the crowded gym and college campus. I love any type of vacation that involves a physical activity paired with it like skiing, surfing, hiking, biking, etc. Although I did have a “cheat” weekend, I always made sure to keep everything in balance too.
cycling and protein
I am back in Colorado and back at the Rec! It takes some getting used to after being at my smaller gym in my hometown. To me, it is more intimidating with all of the students that pretty much live at the gym. I know it is silly, but some of those big guys look like they could crush (and I am probably right…) One of my resolutions though, is to stop being afraid of failure. I often do not try new things for fear of being made fun of and failing, then being made fun of some more. But, I know I have already grown a lot this year and I feel more confident–so who really cares anyway if I look like a fool? It’s my first time and I failure is part of the process of success! the little things
I have been taking more time to reflect and enjoy the little moments in life. You know, part of my resolutions and all that. It is only day five of the new year, but my newly improved positive outlook on life, I can already tell, will make this year one of my best yet! Only day five and I already feel happier, more in control of my own life and plans for my future. I have goals, I have dreams, I am inspired! Continue reading
crossfit mashup
Good morning everyone! Happy Sunday! Let me tell you–I am sore, sore, sore. Thanks to my crossfit session yesterday morning. It was about my third to fourth time doing crossfit and yesterday a lot of things were introduced to me haha. I absolutely love it though and the feeling of being sore the next day (today). I am already planning my workout for today–maybe a run before it starts snowing here this week or some yoga… Continue reading
