So I know I have been MIA these past few weeks. I can go ahead and blame finals and all of the other end-of-semester chaos that is really quite expected by now, but I am not going to. I know of a few low priority things I can put on the back burner when I have a lot going on, but I do not want this blog to be one. It acts as a huge stress reliever actually and allows me an outlet to honestly whatever I feel I need to let out (that mostly being my love for food and fitness that gets suppressed by the engineering world–but that’s another story). As my first day back to my blogging world, I find nothing more suiting than to share how my half marathon went this past Sunday. The same half marathon I devoted to running for Jessi. As I have probably mentioned before, Spring is my favorite season. I love Easter, getting outdoors, the sunshine, the flowers, etc. This post is just my ode to Spring and what I do to get out and enjoy it. When I moved to Colorado a few years ago, my outlook on Spring shifted slightly–snow?? Really?? Oh well, even random snow storms can’t dull my Spring spirit.
catching up: march edition
I am so sorry to all of my tremendous followers. I have been no where to be seen on here on Journey for Jessi lately. For those of you following my Instagram, you know I haven’t been completely missing in action. You have seen so many tidbits lately that I owe it to you all (and myself) to fill in the pieces. the little things
I have been taking more time to reflect and enjoy the little moments in life. You know, part of my resolutions and all that. It is only day five of the new year, but my newly improved positive outlook on life, I can already tell, will make this year one of my best yet! Only day five and I already feel happier, more in control of my own life and plans for my future. I have goals, I have dreams, I am inspired! Continue reading

The weather has been foggy, rainy, dreary and “cold.” Well, cold for Houston. This always seems to happen when I come home. I expect a break from the cold and the snow and want to come to the warm and sun, but here I am… oh well. I am not letting it ruin my fun!
What have I been up to? Well, other than the new fresh-faced blog appearance (let me know what you think in the comments), I have been bounding all over the place in my studies, life, and even changes in my environment. I feel like I am already trying to get a fresh start on the New Year fast approaching. For now, I will focus more on getting things caught up before I reveal my New Year’s resolutions in the making, which, should be revealed not a day sooner than New Year’s Day. Instead, here is a refresher of the new things occurring in my life.
I hope everyone had a GREAT Fourth of July! I know I had an amazing and patriotic day! I absolutely adore holidays, and I get very wrapped up into the festivities. Everything I did yesterday had an element of red, white, and blue to it, like my Strawberry, Banana, and Blueberry Fruit Bowl! Yummy!
kick-start circuit series:rotation six
Yesterday was a good day. I received my Liveashore workout tank in the mail, had a day full of great snacks, and filled with kick-butt workouts! It all began with my morning run as I continue training for my half-marathon(s). I have just been running 6-8 miles a week since I have not registered for any halfs yet, and Jessi’s is in all the way in May. It has been really hot here in Houston, so I learned to listen to my body and heart and slow it down. Continue reading
kick-start circuit series: rotation one
Good morning! Today I am going to start my Strength Circuit Series! These are my various workouts I do first thing in the morning right after I wake up. They are not meant to be super crazy cardio or extreme weight lifting circuits, just something to wake me up and kick-start my body and metabolism. There are five rotations I go through, one per day. When I have completed all five (five days), I will just begin again on rotation one the following day. I work based off of rotations, rather than designate Monday to one circuit, another to Tuesday and so on, because this allows me to listen to my body. Continue reading
listen to your heart
I feel blessed. Blessed because I have my health—and that, is more valuable in life than all the money in the world. People ask me why I workout everyday, or why I eat so healthy. Does that really require an answer? Because I want to live long whilst still enjoying life—who wouldn’t? I always thought that eating well and staying physically fit was the way to get there, but when my world got turned upside down last May, I began questioning and fearing that I was pushing myself too hard… Continue reading
