summer of wellnesss

summer of wellness | Moving Mountains Wellness | muscle | training | weightless | fat loss

My oh my, where has the summer gone?  It’s officially fall here in Colorado.  The weather has been cooler, a slight breeze to the air, and sweater and boot season is upon us.  I am happy fall is here.  For me, seasons are a time of change and renewal.  Fall for me is a time when I start to calm down, slow down and streamline a lot of the business in my life. summer vibes

summer vibes || Journey for JessiI am back in Colorado for the summer and feelin’ the summertime love!  Everything is so green and sunny and hot and I am in my element.  So far my summer has consisted of training, fresh meals, pool time, good friends, BBQs, 4-square, long bike rides, nights out in the town and even summer school is more enjoyable.  It is crazy to think that July will be here next week–my summer bucket list is still so long!  I am on a good pace however, and I am enjoying every moment in the mean time. finishing for jessi

finishing for jessi || Journey for Jessi

So I know I have been MIA these past few weeks.  I can go ahead and blame finals and all of the other end-of-semester chaos that is really quite expected by now, but I am not going to.  I know of a few low priority things I can put on the back burner when I have a lot going on, but I do not want this blog to be one.  It acts as a huge stress reliever actually and allows me an outlet to honestly whatever I feel I need to let out (that mostly being my love for food and fitness that gets suppressed by the engineering world–but that’s another story).  As my first day back to my blogging world, I find nothing more suiting than to share how my half marathon went this past Sunday.  The same half marathon I devoted to running for Jessi. kick-start circuit series: rotation five

Rotation Five I have almost given you all of my morning wake-up workouts!  After this one, just one more to go!  If you happened to miss the the other four, check them out!

Notice that this rotation is repeated four times (the others were usually three).  This is because when I did this circuit only three times, it took me six minutes and burnt 20 calories (*based on my body and level of exertion).  Maybe I just was not feeling “it” this morning, but my heart rate stayed pretty low.  If this is the case with you as well, do my recommended four repetitions.  As always though, listen to your body.  You know it best. farmer’s market morning

Me at the Farmer's MarketYesterday, I did one of my favorite things: I ventured to the  local Farmer’s Market!  Like I said before, I love going grocery shopping, and a farmer’s market is just like outdoor grocery shoppin—full of fresh and local treasures!  Back in Fort Collins, I went to the Farmer’s Market every Saturday to stock up on my fresh fruits and veggies for the week until they moved indoors for the winter.  During the winter, they periodically held indoor markets that I scribbled down on my calendar so I would not miss the few that they had! summer mornings

summer mornings--Journey for JessiDespite the fact that summer usually means sleeping in late for most college students, I cannot bear the notion.  Why waste the most beautiful part of the day?  The promise of a fresh start every morning with the whole day ahead of you.  I think my body knows this and that is why I cannot sleep in past 9 am–and that is still pretty late for me.  I average around 7:30 am unless I set an alarm to go for a run.  In Houston, the day heats up pretty quickly, and if I have not hit the pavement before the sun makes its appearance, I am in trouble. too hot too early

ImageGood morning all, or should I say good afternoon?

I usually wake up early on Tuesdays to go for a little 3 mile run, but as the heart of summer creeps on, so does the heat.  I find that I am setting my alarm earlier and earlier just to avoid the hot sun… Continue reading
