the at-home workout epidemic

So how is your quarantine going? Mine is actually going pretty well believe it or now. I am crossing so many things off my “To Do Eventually” list, moving more throughout my day, and feeling overall more relaxed (you know, when I’m not thinking about the news and current events and future…). One day at a time everybody!

quarantine time

It’s crazy to think about how much has changed these last few weeks/days/hours. The world is a very different place. I am taking this time to get back to doing everything I love that I have been missing like personal training and blogging. I am posting workouts to my instagram that can be done with minimal equipment and include modifications to movement and equipment. I will be posting those videos here as well for you all.

There is so much to catch up on this blog, but I will slowing start updating things and find my ground again as I start posting again.

For now, stay kind, stay loving, stay inside or outside and six feet away from people.

summer of wellnesss

My oh my, where has the summer gone?  It’s officially fall here in Colorado.  The weather has been cooler, a slight breeze to the air, and sweater and boot season is upon us.  I am happy fall is here.  For me, seasons are a time of change and renewal.  Fall for me is a time when I start to calm down, slow down and streamline a lot of the business in my life. back to my regularly scheduled program

training | train it tuesday | overhead incline presses | workout | deadlifts | overhead squats | overhead presses | Moving Mountains Wellness

I am back baby!  Back to my regularly scheduled program.  Last week and this week, I consistently got in the gym, something I use to do an auto pilot.  It turns out though (I will say this over and over again), that when I spend the day programming and training for others, my workout plans go out the window.  For a while that was just fine with me.  I needed a rest, my days were jam packed, I was still staying active in my days… but my body adapted and got used to my non-training life, so I ramped up and prioritized my own workouts and I have never felt this good in a while!

train it tuesday trx & squats

This week’s work out includes the use of a TRX suspension system, or you can use gymnastics rings.  You need some kind of suspension for rows or ring rows, where you hold on to the grips and pull your body up to the grips/handles/rings.  It’s always a bonus to add a second pause at the top of the pull.  Try it for yourself!

The 2018 CrossFit Open ended.  I did each workout as prescribed, meaning I lifted amounts of weight as written, and followed all the rules on burpees, handstand push-ups etc.  Each year, I can compare fitness to others around the world and see my ranking over the years.  I was a little disheartened at first to learn that I did worse than last year, according to my ranking.   Continue reading

day twenty-seven, -eight & -nine | fueled up

day twenty-seven, -eight & -nine | fueled up | Journey for JessiHappy Friday everyone!  Boy, was it a good great week!  The final week of my Whole30 and I honestly feel on top of the world.  My food has been in control.  I have learned what works for me.  I have my “sugar dragon” under control.  It is pretty amazing, but I will go into further detail in my final Whole30 summary post this weekend—so stay tuned.  As for this week, I’m focusing on my meals, workouts, and recovery sessions. summer vibes

summer vibes || Journey for JessiI am back in Colorado for the summer and feelin’ the summertime love!  Everything is so green and sunny and hot and I am in my element.  So far my summer has consisted of training, fresh meals, pool time, good friends, BBQs, 4-square, long bike rides, nights out in the town and even summer school is more enjoyable.  It is crazy to think that July will be here next week–my summer bucket list is still so long!  I am on a good pace however, and I am enjoying every moment in the mean time. memorial day

memorial day || Journey for Jessi

And I’m proud to be an American, where at least I know I’m free. And I won’t forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.

I know many get lost in the three-day weekend with BBQ’s, sales, friend and family gatherings, but Memorial Day is not a picnic to those who truly know the meaning behind it.  Don’t get me wrong, I do take part in the three-day weekend festivities, but only after I reflect on those lives lost that fought for my country’s freedom.  I pray for those families and friends of those fallen soldiers and admire them for their bravery and strength.  Continue reading
